Savant Tours is a Toronto-based tour operator serving leisure and luxury travelers, as well as corporate and leisure groups. We have two thoughtfully designed, story-rich day tours to the Niagara Region: Thunder Through the Strait, departing every Saturday, and Taste of The Strait, departing every Sunday. We also offer a Toronto Walking Tour, Exploring the Heart of Downtown Toronto. We also design and lead custom day tour experiences.
Experience Designer & Founder
Born and raised in Toronto, Duncan found a passion for skateboarding at age ten. He honed his skateboard skills on the stairs, rails, and ledges throughout Toronto’s Financial District, then, at age 18, planned and led professional skateboarders on trips to cities around the world. He created a travel app for skateboarders called Skate Savant, which gained global recognition in the skateboard community. He has travelled to 101 cities across 29 countries, spanning 6 continents. His passion for travel led him to Toronto Metropolitan University, where he earned his degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Duncan has worked in the tourism industry as a Travel Advisor in the luxury and leisure market. In addition, he researched, planned, and managed overseas trips for private schools. He has also worked as a guide to the Niagara Region. It was then that he realized that he could enhance the traveler’s experience: offer tours that are story-rich about the region, provide a bilingual option, develop customized maps with recommendations, and provide transparent and consistent itineraries led by licensed Niagara Parks guides. In addition, he could offer his travelers a richer, more memorable experience in his city by giving them a Savant Tour’s Toronto Recommendations map along with post-tour discounts at select Toronto suppliers.
At Savant Tours, we ensure that the tour description accurately reflects the experience. We provide an hourly breakdown of all our tours that accounts for traffic. On our scheduled tours, we consolidate pickup/drop-off points to ensure the day is not spent picking up passengers.
In addition to the driver, our day tours include a licensed Niagara Parks guide who provides guests with undivided attention and on-the-ground support and guidance.
The thunder starts its roar at the base of Niagara Falls. From there, the river’s roiling passage creates a biodiverse ecosystem through the Niagara Strait. On each tour, we make quick stops to explain the region’s biodiversity and history in depth, including fun facts, and customized images to illustrate its geology.
For all scheduled tours, we offer a bilingual option with text and audio in different languages. A document in each language lists, in sequence, the title and information for each point of interest. For travelers learning and improving their English, the bilingual option is a great resource, as they can follow along as the guide speaks English. To start, we will offer this feature in the following languages: Spanish, Mandarin and French.
Our walking tour comes with Audio guides to ensure the traveler can hear the guide clearly.
